Joyce Waring Stinson

Joyce Waring Stinson 91, of New Canton, Va., passed away in Brandon, Fla., on January 14, 2019. She was born in Richmond, Va., to Lawrence Westmore and Beverly Lee Chaffin Waring on April 21, 1927.
She graduated from John Marshall High School. In 1968, she moved to Brandon for 10 years before moving back to Virginia. In that time, she was active at the First United Methodist Church of Brandon, President of the PTA at Brandon High School, a member of the Women's Club, and she participated in many activities for the betterment of the Brandon area.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Marvin Ray Stinson. Survivors include her son, Ray Waring Stinson and his wife, Tresca; daughter, Debra Kinser and her husband, David; grandchildren, Amy Dunn, Trisha Cromwell, Brian Stinson, Gary Varnum, Rebecca Sheppard, Kristina Garcia and Kameron Kinser. She had 14 great-grandchildren.
In Virginia, she enjoyed life with her family and friends, especially the "After Six" club. She was a member of the Women's Club and many altruistic and musical groups and clubs. Joyce is much loved and will be deeply missed. Always a lady!
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Parham. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 19, at 11 a.m.
