OBITUARY

Judith Harrison Pace

September 20, 1947January 18, 2012

Pace, Judith Harrison, of Richmond passed away peacefully on January 18, 2012. She is survived by her beloved husband of 14 years, Warren M. Pace Jr.; three daughters, Judith Marshall Zirkle and husband Brian of Richmond; Colin Jamerson Rose of Richmond; and Catherine Morrisette Pace and son Joshua Addison Pace of Chesterfield; a son, Warren M Pace III, wife Shelley and family of Annapolis, Maryland.

Judy is the daughter of the late Dr. Jaquelin Marshall Harrison of Richmond and Alice Fisher Harrison of Baltimore, Maryland. Also surviving are her sister, Alice Ridgely Harrison of Shipman, Virginia; and her brother, Randolph Fisher Harrison and his wife Luisa of Fort Myers, Florida. Judy was preceded in death by another brother, Jaquelin Marshall Harrison Jr., also of Richmond. She leaves others as well to cherish her loving memory, including her aunt and godmother, Virginia Harrison Spratley, her husband Robert, of Richmond and their family; a second aunt, Mary Calvin Harrison of Richmond and her family; a niece, Alicia Bennette Harrison, her husband Adip Thathy and baby Lehna of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a nephew Christopher Randolph Harrison, his wife Gretchen and twins Peyton and Brayden of Charlotte, North Carolina.

During her lifetime, Judy attended St. Catherine’s School, and after graduation was off to the University of South Carolina, followed by nursing school at the Medical College of Virginia. She graduated an RN and worked for several years exercising her skills in the emergency room. Later she took training and worked diligently with the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad. Judy inspired those around her to be gracious and giving and to treasure family. When summer came, she romped in the sands of Virginia Beach and the Southern Shores of North Carolina. She had a passion for photography, leaving many photos as examples of her creativity and expertise in that field. Having been whispered to by the “horse whisperer,” Judy also enjoyed training her horse according to his methods.

Along the path of her life were scattered many four leaf clovers, which she easily identified. She stooped to pick up hundreds.Judy’s thoughts were always mingled with the stars. She was born in the sign of Virgo, the richest collection of galaxies known. This cluster is referred to as a “jewel box in the sky.” For Judy, this jewel box or treasure chest was overflowing with caring friends. If you look towards the heavens at night, try to identify this super-cluster of stars shining brightly in God’s heaven, and you will experience a spiritual meeting with our precious Judy.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 2 until 5 pm at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 1101 Forest Avenue, on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11 am, interment Hollywood Cemetery, next to Jackie, the brother she adored. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the SPCA, 2519 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23220, or to another charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered at woodyfuneralhomeparham.com.
