Katharine Orrick Gottlieb was born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Goochland and nearby areas. She was the second child of Thomas Reid and Helene Corson Orrick— the first being Kathleen and then Kathy, Tom, Judy and Clark. Her parents served in the navy, ultimately settling in Richmond. Kathy deeply loved her parents, her siblings, her sisters-in-law Robin, Gilda, and Donna; her nieces and nephews Kelly, Zach, Jaime, Jennifer, Bobby, Danny, David and her great niece Melody and great nephew Will. She was especially close to and held dear her father-in-law Conrad and mother-in-law Annie, caring for them in their lifetimes. Kathy’s love reached out to both extended family and her dear, dear friends, who were family to her. Kathy was a Radiologic Technologist for much of her career and cared deeply for those who were infirm or ill. She was a faithful servant of her God, Jehovah. Kathy and her loving husband Victor knew each other for 51 years and were blissfully married for 47. Kathy’s immense ability to love extended from people to animals. She loved: horses, goats, ducks, cats, dogs, parrots, and she marveled at the myriad creatures that God created. Kathy possessed a beautiful, rich soprano singing voice and the people in the Kingdom Hall loved to be near her when she sang Kingdom songs. She did not want riches or fame—she just wanted to be with family and friends, and to enjoy the simple pleasures of living in the beautiful, rolling hills of Goochland, singing and attending live music concerts.
Kathy found great happiness as a faithful Jehovah’s Witness in sharing the good news about a great hope she held for a life one day on a paradise Earth. She was humble and recognized that all good things come from God. She appreciated that which Jehovah had provided and did not take those things for granted. She was a highly skilled foosball player and baker; her lemon meringue pie, cloverleaf rolls, banana pudding and spoon bread were so appreciated by those lucky enough to have received them. Kathy was a completely beautiful human being who loved, helped, and was loyal to others. She wanted everyone to have hope for a better world to come after resurrection. Every person who knew her will miss her greatly. Memorial service at the Tuckahoe congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and on Zoom to be announced.
