

WOODARD, Katherine Gordon Johann, 64 of Richmond, died July 24, 2012 after a sudden illness. Born May 11, 1948, Katherine was the daughter of William Henry Johann Jr. and Mary Jane Ritchie Johann. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Dabney Morris and her husband, Michael of Richmond; sons, Richard Gordon Woodard and James Peyton Woodard; and his wife, McKenzie, of Richmond; brother, William H. Johann III and his wife, Sheila, of Richmond; twin sister, Bruce J. Muller-Thym and her husband, Harry, of Darlington, Md.; sister, Jane J. Gresham and her husband, Dick, of Norfolk, Va.; four nephews and nieces, four granddaughters.
Katherine graduated from Collegiate School in 1967 and Guilford College in 1971. Katherine was a gentle woman who steadfastly believed in God's goodness and rested trustingly in his purpose for her life. An active member of Christ Presbyterian Church for many years, she was a devoted Christian who tirelessly ministered to countless others. She was passionately involved with her children and grandchildren as well as her beloved Yorkie, Madison. Katherine touched the lives of everyone she met with her selfless and caring nature.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. After a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Third Presbyterian Church, 600 Forest Ave., Richmond, Va. A reception will directly follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Christ Presbyterian Church, 2508 Dickens Rd., Richmond, Va. 23230.
