Though he wore many hats in life and served his community in countless ways, Wayne’s heart was always happiest under the hood of an antique vehicle. Wayne was best known for his lifelong passion for restoring antique vehicles, particularly fire apparatus. His dedication to preserving history through these restorations was remarkable, and his garage was a treasure trove of craftsmanship, skill, and stories from the past. Generations of friends and fellow enthusiasts admired his talent, his patience, and the care he poured into every project. Restoring antique vehicles wasn’t just a hobby—it was a defining part of who Wayne was, and it brought joy not only to him but to everyone who saw the results of his work.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Sandy Kidd and his son, Tom Kidd. He is survived by his devoted companion Sharron Antoniuk and her family; his son, Chris Kidd (Cori); his grandsons, Dylan and Hunter; and his granddaughters, Kaylin and Joslyn who all lovingly knew him as “Papa”.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad, where Wayne was a life member.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday March 24th, 2026 from 5:00 pm-6:30 pm at Woody Funeral Home-Parham 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229. Celebration of Life to follow at 6:30 pm.
