

Marjorie Hey Murdoch passed away on February 17, 2010, after a courageous battle with
Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, James Gordon
Murdoch, and her brother Charles E. Hey Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Martha Murdoch
Tice and her husband, The Honorable Douglas O. Tice Jr., her son, James Gordon Murdoch Jr.,
her sister, Virginia Hey Harrison; three grandchildren, Sarah Hartz, Emily Basto, and Michael
Basto; two step-grandchildren, Douglas Tice III and Janet Tice; two great grandchildren,
Katherine Hartz and Charles Hartz; two step-great grandchildren, Douglas Tice IV and Christy
Tice; two nieces and two nephews, Sarah Atkins, Jane Garriott, Richard Hey, and Dr. William
Harrison.
Marjorie graduated from Smithdeal Massey Business College. She was a former member
of All Saints Episcopal Church where she served as choir mother for the Boys’ Choir. She was
an honorary member of the Commonwealth Woman’s Club, which she helped organize in 1951.
Marjorie will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A special thanks to nurses of Bon
Secours Hospice. They were a blessing to her family in such a sad and difficult time. In lieu of

Her family will receive friends at 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2010, at Woody’s
Funeral Home,1771 Parham Road. A grave-side service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday
February 23, 2010, at Forest Lawn Cemetary.
