Mary Ruth Carpenter

Mary Ruth Carpenter, 66, of Hopewell went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2012. She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late Tony Barbina, Sr. and Dorsey Mae (Crites) Barbina on December 14, 1945. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant, devoted to her patients, for 33 years with Hopewell Healthcare and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her best friend William T. Carpenter; beloved children; William "Tommy" Carpenter and wife Lisa, Anthony "Tony" Carpenter, and Vicki Lynn Carpenter. There are six grandchildren; Mia Carpenter, Joshua T. Carpenter, Cameron Carpenter, Luke Carpenter, James Carpenter and Joshua Carpenter; Five brothers; Tony Barbina Jr., Bill Barbina, Julian Barbina, John Barbina and James Barbina, numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Frank Barbina, Sr., and two sisters, Sarah Feathers and an infant sister, Rebecca.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6, 2012, from 6:30pm until 8:30pm at Calvary's Love Ministries on 118 S. 11th Avenue Hopewell, VA 23860 and the funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2011 at 3:00pm with interment following at Appomattox City Cemetery in Hopewell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women’s Specialty Care Unit at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital.
