Mary W. Dallas

Mary Weeks Dallas, 78, of western Henrico, departed this life unexpectedly, but surrounded by family on Thursday, October 29, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband and "Honey" of 57 years, David L. "Dave" Dallas, Sr., their 4 children, David, Jr. (Susan), Donna Dallas, Dana Dallas (Lloyd Gregory) and Deborah Mohr (Doug); 10 grandchildren - D. Lee, III, Rebecca; Haley, Parker; Kenley, Crew, Callad; Jake, Zeke and Faith; and innumerable friends.

Mary was raised in Hanover County and graduated from Henry Clay High School. A mainstay of Tuckahoe Village since 1964, her house was home to many. In addition to entertaining family and friends, she loved vacationing at the beach, playing bridge with friends, cheering for her family in sports and life, watching birds from her sunroom, and rooting for favorite teams. Mary also enjoyed travel with Dave as an empty nester and hosting gatherings for any reason. Her mac and cheese, lemon jello cake and other specialties enticed everyone, but remain culinary mysteries to all but her beloved mother-in-law, Maude C. Dallas.

"Sweet Merry" Mary will be remembered as a petite and elegant southern lady of immense heart, energy, compassion and determination, who charmed all who came to know her.

A family visitation will be held at Woody's Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, on Friday, November 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service honoring Mary's life will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 4:00 p.m at Derbyshire Baptist Church, 8800 Derbyshire Road, with reception following.

In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly suggests a donation to a favorite charity.
