DINSMORE, MARY HELEN FARRIS of Henrico, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018. Born in 1925 in Benham, KY, she was the daughter of Lovely Mae and Benjamin Farris. Mary grew up in the mountains of Big Stone Gap, VA, where she met and married her husband of 69 years, Ivory Dinsmore. Mary was a beloved wife, devoted Mother, and loyal friend. She was a skillful seamstress and quilter, successful gardener, wonderful cook, avid reader, antique lover, RV enthusiast, and yard sale aficionado. Mary is a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and a past member of the Whispering Pines Garden Club & the Holiday Ramblers Camping Club. Mary is survived by her daughter, Diane Dinsmore; son, Dan Dinsmore and Pam Edwards; granddaughter, Katharine and Brandon Fish; great grandchildren Eliza and Rhys Fish; sister, Dorothy Chafin; and many cherished nieces, nephews and their families. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Ivory Dinsmore; her brothers, Fred Farris and Kenneth Farris; and her sister Jean Farris Bell. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM on Thursday, May 24, at Woody Funeral Home-Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd, Richmond, VA; and funeral services will be held there at 11 AM on Friday, May 25. Internment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Rd., Glen Allen, VA or a charity of your choice. The Dinsmore family would like to thank Mary’s girls at Commonwealth Assisted Living @West End and her loving caregivers at Mary’s Home Away From Home for their wonderful care, love, and support.
