

HITE, Mary Baker, of Henrico passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013. She was born on Thursday, September 28, 1944 in Huntington, Indiana, was a graduate of Huntington High School and attended Stephens College in Missouri. She was a member of Reveille United Methodist Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Mary was preceded in death by two wonderful parents, Clarence and Hilda Baker, and is survived by her brother, David Baker, her children and their spouses: Collin Hite and Tommy Threewitts; Creighton and Anne Marie Hite; and Cameron Hite. She also is survived by her three grandchildren whom she adored with all her heart: Dameon, Oliver and Lucas. Watching her grandchildren grow up was a special part of her life.
She was a former resident of Atlanta, Georgia and Miami, Florida. She enjoyed a career in the travel industry. Mary was a former member of The Fan Woman's Club and Richmond Symphony Orchestra League. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In recent years, she had enjoyed being a member of a knitting group and the games of bridge and rummy cube. She also was an active book club member and loved to read. As the holidays approach she will be sorely missed since Christmas was her favorite holiday of the year.
Mary fought a courageous battle over the last year against lung cancer and COPD. She enjoyed life and did her best to not let illness slow her down. Her life was too short and she will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2 o'clock at Reveille United Methodist Church, 4200 Cary Street Road, Richmond, Virginia 23221. A Committal Service in the Church's Garth also will be held. A reception for attendees will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Reveille United Methodist Church are requested.
