

HOWARD, Mary Carroll, 92, of Richmond, VA, passed away November 18, 2015. She was born May 20, 1923 in Churchville, VA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Kinney and Elizabeth Jane Carroll, her husband, Albert Miller Howard, six sisters: Nina Carroll Finch, Kinney Carroll Bailey, Eleanor (Cookie) Carroll Rooney, Frances Carroll Crickard, Margaret Carroll Booth, as well as her twin sister, Martha Carroll Myers and close friend, Bus Giovanetti. She is survived by her son, David Wilson Howard, two Granddaughters, Jessica Marie Howard (Michael Hunter Urban) and Jamie Diane Howard, one Great-Granddaughter, Haylee Marie Urban, one sister Dot Carroll Thacker and many nieces and nephews from all over Virginia, especially from her hometown of Churchville, VA.
Mary retired from The C&O Railroad after 30 years of service. She was an active member of the Third Presbyterian Church for 54 years. Mary was an extremely active and enthusiastic woman. She enjoyed playing golf, bunko, bridge, bowling and taking walks throughout her neighborhood. Mary was blessed with a wonderful family, many social groups and close friends including her lifelong friend, Hope McGee.
The family will receive guests from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2015 at The Parham Chapel-Woody Funeral Home at 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Third Presbyterian Church located at 600 Forest Avenue, Henrico, VA 23229.
Mary’s family would like to personally thank every nurse, caregiver, family member and friend that gave a helping hand including Elaine, Sharon, Sonya, Marilyn, Amy, Clara and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Third Presbyterian Church in her memory.
