Mary Anne Knightly

Mary Anne Mahoney Knightly, age 80, of Richmond, VA passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Anne was born June 21, 1941 at Stuart Circle Hospital in Richmond, VA to the late Aubrey Vincent Mahoney Jr. & Anna Mary Mahoney (Augst).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Knightly Sr; and her brother William Michael (Mike) Mahoney.

She is survived by her sister, Audrey Walker; her brother, Aubrey Vincent Mahoney III (Elaine); her seven children, Robert Granville Jr.; William Russell “Bill” (Deborah); Thomas Vincent (Jennifer); John Daniel (Laura); Patrick Joseph (Liz); Susan Elizabeth Knightly Tierney (Gavin); and James Michael Knightly; her nine Grandchildren; and her three step-grandchildren.

Anne had an abundance of patience, kindness, a quick wit, an amazing sense of humor, and the resilience necessary to raise seven children. She worked at St. Bridget’s School in Richmond Virginia with her sister, and other women who became dear friends. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Sierra Club.

The family will receive friends from 12PM to 1PM Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral home, 1771 N. Parham Road. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00PM, followed by interment of ashes at Westhampton Memorial Park at 2PM. A Private reception for family and friends will follow.
