Matthew Lee Hogston

He was preceded in death by his mother Yvonne Walker and his uncle John Henry Teague (BIG DADDY).

He is survived by his wife of 26 years Stacy Hogston, daughter Mason (Tre), his son Hayden, grandchildren, his father Rodney Matthew Hogston, his special mother-in-law Gail Moore (whom he affectionately referred to as Nana), sister Andrea Miller (Larry) and his special aunt Jo Ann Teague, with whom he lived his senior year of high school. He is also survived by his cousins John Harlen Teague and Joy Teague Ebel, with whom he had a deep bond and admired and who took him to get his first tattoo.

Matt was owner and operator of Short Pump Towing for 28 years. He loved his family and friends more than words could ever describe. He especially treasured the days with his grandchildren. Matt’s most favorite time of the year was Fourth of July. He loved to set off fireworks for his neighborhood in Reedville, VA. He enjoyed this tradition for 20 years and eventually passed it down to the children of the community, having safety meetings and going over the positions and safety measures. He loved nothing more than teaching "his boys" about fireworks. His son along with Caleb and Chase Anderson and Kyle Lewter made this day in July such a great memory for him. His daughter was the videographer for this firework display.

A gathering of family and friends will be held August 19, 2026 between 4:00-7:00 at Woody’s Funeral home at 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229.
