CLAIBORNE, Maurice "Sonny" Acree Jr., 73, a resident of Mechanicsville, Va., died peacefully Tuesday, May 17, 2016, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia; his sons, Todd (Jessica) Claiborne, Brian (Stephanie) Claiborne, Rick (Pam) Knight; and his daughter, Kim (Jay) Smith; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Margaret Ann, Jay, Sydney, Eric Van , Colton, Abby, Alexandra, Hannah and Ashton.
"Sonny," as he was known to everyone, was The Minister of Corinth Christian Church and worked for Woody Funeral Home for the last 15 years. He had a great love of hunting, which was only surpassed by his deep love and commitment to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his family.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home-Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, Va. 23229. His funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Woody Funeral Home. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society at cancer.org/donate.
