ERGENS, Mellwood F. Jr. "Mell," 71, of Richmond, departed this life Sunday, December 7, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Marlynn Serverson Ergens; son, Mellwood Ergens III; sister, Christine Jordon; several nieces and nephews.
Mell was born in Newport News, Va. He relocated to Richmond when his father was drafted into the military. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School and R.P.I. in Richmond. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an employee of Richmond Public Schools for 47 years.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
