Michael J. Forbes

Michael Joseph Forbes, 77, met his Heavenly Father on Monday, March 4, 2019 after a very brief battle with cancer. Mike was a devoted husband to his surviving wife, Fredda, for 57 years. Other survivors include three children to whom he was a loving father: sons, Steve Forbes (Robin), Glenn Forbes, and daughter, Laurie Underwood. His eight grandchildren adored him: Michael Underwood, Jessica Underwood Rhodes (Ryan), Steven Forbes, Katherine Forbes Drummond (Mickey), Brett, Zach, Rachel, and Claire Forbes; and two precious great-grandchildren, Riley and Jackson Rhodes. He is also survived by one sister, Barbara. Mike was predeceased by his parents, William and Ann Forbes; and a brother, William, Jr. Mike's generosity, kindness, wit, and humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, Va. 23229 on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Visitation from 12 to 2 p.m. with a service at 2 p.m, officiated by Rev. Gary Stewart. Reception will follow at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church, 19110 Beaver Dam Road, Beaverdam, Va. 23015.
