DYKERS, Nancy Marler, April 19, 1930, to September 4, 2023. Nancy was born and raised in Cleveland, TN, the daughter of Thomas James and Hazel Wilson Marler. She graduated from Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga and Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, where she met her husband of 68 years, Andrew Woods Dykers, Jr.
In 1966 they moved from TN to VA, and in 1987 they opened Orapax Hunting Preserve. Nancy was passionate about the education and civics of Goochland County, proudly involved with both the Goochland Branch Library and Goochland Republican Women.
Nancy was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her sister, Judith Marler Allen (Larry); four children, Patricia Dykers Koenig (Mark), A. Woods Dykers III, Thomas Marler Dykers, and Jane Dykers Kauder (Neal); grandchildren, Sean Koenig, Eric Koenig-Reinke (Essie), Janie Lynn Brown, Sarah Hatfield (Ryan), Adam Kauder (Cat Dame) and Bryan Kauder (Kathleen Addison); and great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Emma, and Ella Hatfield, Lucy Koenig-Reinke,
and Elliot Kauder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Woods Dykers, Jr. A memorial service will be held at Byrd Presbyterian Church, 2229 Dogtown Road in Goochland, Friday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to GoochlandCares.org.
