Naumann Spurr Dowdy, 94, of Richmond, Va., passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James H., Ryland and Wellford Dowdy. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Arline Lorente Dowdy; three children, Brenda Bauder, Naumann S. Dowdy Jr. and wife, Marilyn, Llewellyn P. Dowdy and wife, Judy; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, a former superintendent of welfare in Culpeper County and taught at Bainbridge High School in Richmond. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 5, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
