Patty Armstrong RogersROGERS, Patty A. "Mema," age 86, of Henrico, Va., formerly of Manakin-Sabot, Va., went to be with our Lord on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Our Lady of Hope where she had been residing since May of 2008. She was born May 7, 1923 in Louisa County, Va. to the late Thomas L. Armstrong and Pecolia Parsons Armstrong. In addition to her parents, four sisters and two brothers, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston B. Rogers Jr., who founded Douglas Chemical Company. After his passing, Mrs. Rogers became president of Douglas Chemical Company and continued running it for five years. Mrs. Rogers was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by two children, her son, Douglas B. Rogers of Manakin-Sabot Va. and her daughter, Nancy R. Markey and husband, Ray, of Henrico Va.; one sister, Bessie A. Simmons of Hanover, Va.; and sister-in-law, Kathleen R. Joyner of Henrico Va.; four grandchildren, Jason D. Rogers of Louisa, Va., Scott P. Markey and wife, Emiko, of Darnestown Md., Blake H. Markey and wife, Melissa, of Manakin-Sabot, Va., and Lauren E. Markey of Henrico, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Preston R. Rogers of Louisa, Va. and Kaylee P. Markey of Manakin-Sabot, Va. Mrs. Rogers' remains rest at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2009, and where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association .
