EASLEY, Phoebe Flinn, 74, passed away peacefully February 24, 2019. Phoebe was born in Blackstone, Va., to James "Jimmy" Flinn and Frances "Polly" Maddux Flinn, but as a young girl moved to Richmond and eventually settled in Mechanicsville.
She attended Douglas Freeman High School, Class of '62, followed by Westhampton College, to receive her undergraduate degree in Spanish in 1966, then went on to receive a Master of Education from the University of Richmond in 1973.
Teaching Spanish at Hermitage High School for 34 years, Senora Easley impacted generations of Panthers as a dedicated educator and lifelong mentor. After retirement, she substituted and tutored for another 16 years.
She was a proud supporter of University of Richmond athletics and rarely missed a football or basketball game with her family. As a "professional shopper," she loved a good sale. Phoebe's generosity and kindness will be missed by the many lives she touched.
Phoebe is survived by her husband, John B. Easley; son, William C. Easley (Katie); brother, J. Earl Flinn Jr. (Shelly); nephews, William and Alex Flinn; many cousins and all her girlfriends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in her honor to the University of Richmond Spider Club or the American Cancer Society. A visitation will be held Friday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, with a funeral ceremony Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. (Woody), with burial in Westhampton Memorial and reception to follow at the home of William and Katie Easley.
