

Raymond J. Frank, 92, of Richmond, Va., died peacefully on April 13, 2014 at his home at Westminster Canterbury. Ray was born in Broadway, Va., to Garrett "Hobart" Frank and Lillian Mitchell Frank. He graduated in 1938 from John Marshall High School in Richmond, where he was captain of the Cadet Corps Band. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Ray received his degree in architecture from The Cooper Union and was licensed to practice architecture in New York and Virginia. He married Blanche Toler on September 19, 1958. A member of the American Institute of Architects and the Construction Specifications Institute, he spent the last decade of his career as head of the specifications department with Hankins and Anderson, Consulting Engineers. Ray was an Elder and member of the choir of Ginter Park Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed woodworking and model ship building and was known as a kind and gentle man who was always willing to help. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Frank; his daughter, Linda Frank of Radford, Va.; and his grandson, Wesley Canter of Richmond. A memorial service will be held at the Westminster Canterbury chapel at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 1. Memorial donations may be made to the Fellowship Fund of Westminster Canterbury Richmond.
