Roy William Lancaster,96, of Midlothian, formerly of Dahlgren and King George County, died Oct. 16, 2015. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth Minor Lancaster and father of Martha Lancaster Butler O'Donnell. He was born Jan. 18, 1919, son of the late Allie James Lancaster and the late Carrie Grigsby Lancaster.
He is survived by his daughter, granddaughter Ann Elizabeth Butler, grandson David Vernon Butler, granddaughter-in-law Mary Posatko, great-grandsons Daniel Vernon Butler and Matthew Thomas Butler, and son-in-law Waller Lynn O’Donnell, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son; sisters Elsie Lancaster Fitzgerald, Bertha Lancaster Griffin and Nancy Lancaster Castner; brother Alvin James Lancaster; and son-in-law Capt. Carroll Vernon Butler, USNR.
He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran who served in the Pacific theater and a Civil Service retiree of the U.S. Navy Department, Dahlgren U.S. Naval Proving Grounds, later U.S. Naval Weapons Laboratory. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
