Obituary of Stephen Scott Davidson
Davidson, Stephen Scott, 65, passed peacefully on September 3, 2015. Steve was born on March 11, 1950, in Richmond, Virginia. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Garland Davidson, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Gibson Davidson, his son, Scott Jennings Davidson and his wife, Tiera Owens Davidson, and his Bichon, Vinny. Steve is also survived by two sisters, Lynn Winfrey (Joseph) and Beth Woodburn (Walter), two nieces, Caroline Striepe (Darin) and Megan Kolano, and one nephew, Jeremy Winfrey. Steve was a 1969 graduate of Hermitage High School and a 1975 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University. He had been employed as a buyer for drug store chains in Virginia, Florida, and Georgia, and retired from Supervalu/Richfood in June, 2010, from the Procurement Department. His proudest moment was being a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as an infantryman in the 196th Infantry Brigade from 1970-1971. Steve especially loved playing golf, working in his yard and following current events and will be remembered for his wit and humor as he was a master storyteller, always ready with a joke and quickly making friends wherever he went. Steve was an active member of Westhampton United Methodist Church where he previously served as the chairman of the Church Council. He loved his Men's Sunday School Class and missed attending as his health failed. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 6, from 1:00-2:00pm at Westhampton United Methodist Church with the service to start at 2:00pm. Burial will be private at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Richmond Fisher House, Veterans Ave, Richmond, VA 23224 or Westhampton United Methodist Church at 6100 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA 23226.
