He is also survived by his sister Joan Weeks and husband John, brothers Skip and wife Denise, Bobby and wife Judy, and Kevin and wife Joyce, along with many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Mark grew up in Falls Church, VA. Throughout his life, Mark faced challenges with grit and determination, resulting in the admiration of his many friends and colleagues. Mark achieved a Master’s degree in Urban Studies from VCU and remained a loyal VCU basketball fan to the end (go Rams!). He was a talented and dedicated public servant with the City of Richmond for 22 years where he rose to the Director of Community Development. He then continued to serve his fellow citizens as the Director of Community Revitalization for Henrico County for over 16 years until his retirement in 2019. His favorite times were those with family and friends at the Outer Banks, NC. He loved to fish, golf, and go to music festivals, concerts and sporting events. He was a huge fan of the Washington Redskins and Bob Dylan. Mark was a wonderful human being whose spirit will remain in our hearts and minds forever. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, May 16 at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, VA, followed immediately by a celebration of Mark’s life.
