Sybil Farmer Powell

POWELL, Sybil Jean Farmer, 76, passed away peacefully at her Richmond, Va., home on August 10, 2013. She was an amazing woman who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her husband of 56 years, Bobby; her daughters, Meg Powell and Amy Hertless; son-in-law, Robert E. Hertless Jr.; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brandon Hertless; her sister, Saundra Farmer Persinger (Glenn); sister-in-law, Velda Farmer; and many other loved ones. Sybil was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Margaret Farmer of Covington, Va.; and a brother, Garland "Buzz" Farmer. She proudly served Henrico County Schools and retired after 25 years as Food Nutrition Services Manager. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, August 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, August 14, at 1 p.m. Both gatherings will be held at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association , Virginia, the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, or a charity of your choice .
