Virginia Bragg James
June 24, 1924 – December 30, 2017
JAMES, Virginia Bragg, 93, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017. She was born June 24, 1924, in Richmond to the late Olie Hasher Bragg and Samuel Owen Bragg. She was the widow of Alexander Campbell Norris and Rowell Adams James. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Norris Vogel and her husband, John F. Vogel; her grandson, Charles Montgomery Vogel; her granddaughter, Alezandra Vogel Spitzer and husband, Michael R. Spitzer II; and two great-grandsons, Matthew James Spitzer and David Campbell Spitzer. Virginia graduated from Fluvanna High School in 1942 and Pan American Business School. In early life, she was active in the PTA, Barton Heights Junior Women's Club (now Hermitage) and was a Welcome Wagon hostess for the City of Richmond. She as a longtime member of Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist Church until she gave up driving. She was a loving daughter, mother and wife. She stayed home and selflessly cared for her mother. She was the last of her generation in her family. The family will receive friends at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
