Obituary of Wanda Heaton Giffin
Wanda H. Giffin, better known as MawMaw for the past 33 years, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2016. Wanda was born in Maryville, TN on July 26, 1923. When the world went to war in the 40s, Wanda rolled up her sleeves and went to work alongside the many women who supported the war effort by joining the work force. Wanda worked throughout the war at the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa). After the war she continued her employment while her husband Cledith (CC) attended the University of Tennessee. Wanda and CC moved to Richmond, VA in the 1950’s where she became a housewife and mother, the role she was meant for in this life. From 1943 until the day she died she devoted her life to her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grand child. She was the epitome of the word Mother. Wanda was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rosco and Lula Heaton, her husband, CC, her brother, Edwin Heaton and her granddaughter, Chelsea Western. She is survived by her son Brian K Giffin (Dorthy), her daughter Lisa A Western (Brad), grandchildren Ashley Giffin, Alex Western, Eric and Amy Giffin, Micah Miller, Alexandra Tomlin , Abby Schwartz, and great grandchild, Bryson Giffin. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, VA with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm and interment to follow at Westhampton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the LifeNet Health Foundation.
