

William Randolph Carlton, 86, of Richmond, Va., born July 25, 1926 and passed away July 19, 2013 following a brief courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Granville Carlton and Eleanor Carlton; brother, James Preston Carlton; and wife, Evelyn F. "Dee" Carlton. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lee Foley of Richmond, and Rannie Lou Brown and her husband, Jim, of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandson, Bryan Christopher Williams of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Charles E. Carlton of West Point, Va. and Sarasota, Fla.; sister, Louise H. Carlton of Saluda, Va. Mr. Carlton served as a Seaman First Class V6 in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre in Okinawa. He worked for the William Byrd Hotel Barber Shop, starting in 1948, was owner and operator from1960 to 1995 and continued working after retirement until May 2013. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 50 years and was an avid golfer who made three holes-in-one at the Jefferson Lakeside Country Club, where he was a honorary member. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment to follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
