William Floyd Myers Jr., age 85, died August 5, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of 55 years Priscilla "Pat" Conway Myers; parents, William Floyd Myers, Sr. and Shirley Hash Myers and sister Carroll Myers.
He is survived by two daughters, Allison Myers Feinmel (Mike), and Carole Kay Myers Smelik (Rob); three grandsons Zack and Drew Feinmel and Sam Smelik; brother David Myers; and sister-in-law Brenda Rogers.
He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Richmond and soon afterward began a career in IT. In 2000 he retired and began his second childhood. He and his wife traveled to all 50 states and several foreign countries. He was a Road to Recovery driver for the American Cancer Society for many years.
He hiked, swam, rode his bike and most especially played and traveled with his grandsons. He was active in his church and held numerous positions. He also led church members on tours of Richmond and around the state. He was a charter member of the Osher Life Long Learning Institute at the University of Richmond. He led several walks on the Richmond Slave Trail for this group and taught a few classes. He enjoyed card games with friends and neighbors.
The family would like to thank the staff at Traditions Health Hospice and Discovery Village for their care and dedication.
A visitation will be held on Aug. 30th from 6 PM to 8 PM at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel. A funeral service will be held Aug. 31st at 10 AM at Woody Funeral Home with interment at Greenwood Memorial Gardens to follow. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to either the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
