

WILLIS, William "Bill" King, 74, of Manakin-Sabot, walked his last mile on earth May 6, 2014. He was retired from Landin Companies. After retirement, he worked at the Tuckahoe YMCA and Newman and Wright Law Firm as a paralegal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernul and Tommie Willis; sister, Madelyn Bircher; and niece, Megan Cummings. Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jane Willis; daughter, Courtney McClain and her husband, Bobby; two sons, Kristoffer Willis and Patrick Willis and his wife, Dee; sister, Jayne Cummings and her husband, Bryce; brother, Steve Willis and his wife, Terri; brother-in-law, Dick Bircher; and special aunt, Joy Parsons; five grandchildren, Ryan and Morgan McClain, Alice Greenwood and Norah and Everett Willis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of East Carolina University and was proud of walking 50,000 miles in 20 years.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Dover Baptist Church, 635 Manakin Road. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. A special thanks from the family to the Thomas Johns Cancer Hospital staff, Dr. Lawrence Lewkow, Dr. Howard Haverty, and Dr. David Randolph, and to Bill's very best friend, The Honorable Ferrell Newman, Esq. Bill says, "Thanks, ke-mo-sah-bee for everything you did for me and my family, both professionally and personally, throughout the past 30 plus years. I'm sure we will meet again, someday, somewhere."
