William Douglas Winks born October 10th, 1962 departed this world June 18th, 2025. He was most fondly known as Bill, Dad, and Grandpa Bill. He retired from The Virginia Department of Transportation after over 20 years of service. He knew his way around Richmond like the back of his hand. Bill spent his teen and young adult years living on a farm in Louisa Virginia, where his love for animals and the outdoors grew. He graduated from Louisa County High School in 1981. His 12th grade English Teacher wrote “Bill is probably intellectually my brightest student, he has a great flare for writing.”
He was proceeded in death by his parents
Dr. George F. Winks Jr., and Nancy F. Winks, Grandparents, and many beloved pets that he cherished over the years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his Daughter April Kimble and her Husband Greg Kimble, Grandchildren Clara and Shelton Garrison, his Brother Frank Winks and his Wife Susan Winks and her Children and Grandchild respectively, Philip Van Ness, Ashley Van Ness, and Kaitlyn Mauck. His Uncle, Alton Ford and his Wife Kathy, Cousins Mike Ford, Scott Ford, Dena Witzig, and their families. Bill’s most prized possession was his 17 year old beagle “Girl” who brought him much comfort and joy over the years. She will now be cared for by his daughter and grandchildren. His family takes comfort in the fact that his earthly suffering is no more. He is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and is in the embrace of loved ones who left the earth before him.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 26, from 5pm until 8pm at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 North Parham Road, Henrico and a graveside service, (lead by a very special Cousin, Bernie Henderson), will be held on Friday, June 27, at 12 noon, at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Avenue, Henrico.
