Aileen W. Morrison

Aileen was the beloved wife of Larry Kent Morrison; wonderful mother of Stacey (Robert) Gaines of Jackson, Kristi (Chris) Henderson of Jackson, and Jim (Mitzi) Morrison of Oxford; loving “Grammie” of Lauren, Ashlie, and Haley Henderson and Mia and Tyler Morrison; dear sister of Louise Campbell and Julia (Lane) Allen; and daughter of the late James and Aileen Walter.

Aileen grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, where she graduated from Murrah High School in 1960. Following high school, she attended and graduated in 1964 from Mississippi University for Women with a degree in accounting. At MUW, she was a member of the Rogue and Black List Social Clubs; elected campus favorite and cheerleader; and a member of Copy Cats and the MEH Lady annual staff.

Following college, she and several of her college friends moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where she began her career as an accountant, met her husband of 46 years, and welcomed her daughters, Stacey and Kristi. She and Larry moved to Jackson in 1974 to be closer to family and where their son Jim was born.

For nearly 70 years, Aileen enjoyed her family, friends, church activities, traveling, and taking care of her beautiful yard. She loved playing bridge, traveling to Oxford for sporting events, having girls’ trips with her sisters and friends and all things Mississippi. Throughout her life, Aileen blessed all who knew her with her wonderful sense of humor, amazing selfless heart, and unwavering faith and love for her family, friends, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family extends their special thanks to her First Baptist Church of Jackson Sunday School friends; University of Mississippi Medical Center, St. Dominic Health Services and Hospice Ministries’ medical staffs; and her family and friends who made her last days more comfortable.

Visitation is Friday, May 11, from 5:00 p.m-7:00 p.m. at Wright & Ferguson in Ridgeland. The funeral will be on Saturday at 2:00pm at Chapel of the Cross in Madison. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home.

The family has established the Aileen Walter Morrison Scholarship Fund at Mississippi University for Women. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to MUW, 1100 College Street, W-1618, Columbus, MS 39701, notating the Aileen Walter Morrison Scholarship Fund.
