Anita Dossett Jones

Anita Jones is preceded in death by her parents, her partner, Billy Lankford Bendit, and her grandson, Dale Edward Richards.

Anita was born June 2, 1945, in Laurel, Mississippi, to James Kearney Dossett and Ina Belle Fewell Dossett. She grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. She attended local public schools and Woodland Hills Baptist Church.

She graduated from Murrah High School in 1963 and attended the University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi until her sons were born. After living in New Orleans, Louisiana; Mobile, Alabama; and Scituate, Massachusetts, the family settled in Vienna, Virginia.

Anita graduated from George Mason University and went to work for Science Applications Inc., where she worked for over twenty years and ran the International Human Resources department.

Anita retired in 2010. She and her partner, Billy Bendit, went on cruises, spending many nights at the Captain’s table.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Harold Jones, his wife, Christine, and granddaughter, Ciara Kathryn Jones of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; son, Christopher Eugene Jones, his wife, Terresa Evelyn Carson; and sons, Aidan James Jones and Evan Gerald Jones of San Diego, California. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Anita requested for memorial donations made to the American Foundation for the Blind.

Services will be held at Parkway Memorial Cemetery on July 9th. Visitation will start at 10 AM. Service will start at 10:30 AM.

A visitation for Anita will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Parkway Funeral Home & Parkway Memorial Cemetery, 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, Mississippi 39157, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM.
