

Arthur Dale Minton, age 87, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away on November 8, 2016, at the State VA Nursing Home in Jackson. He was born January 16, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Irtis Othie and Eleanor Englund Minton. After attending the Toledo Public Schools, he moved to Collins, Mississippi, when he was a senior in high school After graduating from Collins High School, he served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. After his discharge from the army, he returned to Toledo for a short time before moving to the South for good.
In 1954 Dale married Ann Todd in Collins. They lived in Collins until 1969 when with their three children they moved to Jackson where he established Allied Furniture Leasing, the first furniture leasing business in Jackson. He joined Christ United Methodist Church in 1970 and remained a loyal member until his death. Dale enjoyed family time and playing golf with his friends at Live Oaks Golf Club and Colonial Country Club for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Todd Minton, his children Art Minton of Jackson, Cynthia (Jeff) Sills of Rocky Face, Georgia, Adele (Bobby) Jacobs of Madison; grandchildren Brian (Jessica) Sills of Fairoaks Ranch, Texas, Chad (Stephanie) Sills of Centennial, Colorado, Leslie Sills (Dustin) Tommerup of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ben Todd Minton of Madison, Xenia Rain Minton of Jackson, Amanda Jacobs of Gluckstadt, Robert “Trey” (Kate) Jacobs of Olive Branch, and Josh Jacobs of Starkville; and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Highland Colony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 11:00 at Parkway. Burial will be in the Collins City Cemetery at 2:30.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Batson Children’s Hospital at U.M.C. or Christ United Methodist Church.
