Betty McRae Dent

Betty was born to Ethel and Duncan Conrad McRae on September 22, 1924 in Columbia, South Carolina and moved to Jackson, Mississippi when she was eight years old. Thomas Norrell Dent (Peacy) her husband of over 50 years preceded her to glory in 2004. Betty is survived by her four children and their spouses, Tommy and Mary Dent (Madison), Barry and Cheryl Dent (Brandon), Nancy and Tom Majors (Birmingham, AL), and Gene and Betty Marsha Dent (Jackson); twelve grandchildren and their families, Jay Dent, Thomas Dent, Lauren Ammons, Melissa Dent, Tommy Majors, Jill Dent, Art Majors, Duncan Dent, Audrey Dent, Tim Majors, John Majors, Camille Dent; and two great-grandchildren.

Betty assisted her husband in starting Dent Air Conditioning Company in 1954. She enjoyed bridge, gardening, and travelling with Peachy. A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Mike Campbell will officiate. Betty’s family will receive guests on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm at Redeemer Presbyterian Church. Parkway Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial Donations may be made to The Redeemer’s School.
