Betty D. Jensen

May 29, 1924May 27, 2019

Betty D. Jensen went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 27th. Betty was born in El Paso, Texas on May 29, 1924. On March 26, 1949, she married Morice T. Jensen. During their 30 year marriage, Morice was in the military, and Betty followed him from one end of the country and back again, including overseas. She always said, “Home is where you hang your hat; it doesn’t matter where, as long as we are all together.” During their marriage, Morice and Betty had two children Rick and Rita. When Morice retired from the military, they ultimately settled down in Flora. Betty was an active member of the Flora Woman’s Club. She was the town librarian for many years. She was very active in Tri-County Academy and her home church, First Baptist Church of Flora. On any given Friday night in the fall, Betty could be found in her usual seat at a TCA football game. Betty attended these games near and far from 1970 until 2015, when her health would not allow her to go any longer. Betty’s grandchildren were the light of her life. She spent numerous hours at the Flora swimming pool watching them swim. Betty was an avid reader who also loved to shop, cross-stitch, work crossword puzzles, and attend her ladies prayer group with her dearest friends. Betty will be missed by so many. Although she only had five grandchildren, she was a grandmother to so many in Flora. The number of people who call her Grandma is a testament to her love, support, and willingness to care for others. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Isola and John Ball, her husband, Morice T. Jensen, and sister Pearl York. Betty will be missed by her children Rick (Mary) and Rita; her grandchildren Cheryl (Barney), Eric, Justin, Stephanie (Nathan), and Jenna; her seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to First Baptist Church of Flora at Post Office Box 163, Flora, MS 39071.

Aunt Betty always made me smile and giggle. My mother, Margaret Jensen, shared so many loving and funny stories about Uncle Morice and Aunt Betty. Mom sure did love you Aunt Betty, and so do I.
I pray God watches over your loved ones
Rest in peace beautiful Aunt
