Caroline Kimball Lilly went peacefully to be with The Lord on July 12, 2015. She lived a contented life, thankful for God's gracious blessings to her. One of her favorite Bible verses was "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24). Caroline was born to Aaron Newton and Emma Jones Kimball on July 31, 1916, in Greenwood, in the Mississippi Delta. She was nicknamed at an early age and was affectionately known as "Skeeter" by her family and many of her friends. The family moved to Clarksdale, where Caroline was educated in the public schools. It was when they moved to Tupelo that Caroline met Shelby Topp Lilly, whom she was later to marry. Caroline attended Belhaven College and Ole Miss and worked for the Home Owners' Loan corporation in Jackson and Washington, DC. Caroline and Shelby were married in First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, where she remained a member for over 70 years. She was active in Sunday School, Women of the Church, and in later years, Presbyterian Retired Organization for Seniors. Caroline was interested in her family history and was an active member in several patriotic organizations, such as the DAR, Colonial Dames, and Founders and Patriots. Caroline was preceded in death by her brothers, Mack Jones Kimball and Newton Scott Kimball. She is survived by her daughter Caroline Becker and husband Charles of Helotes TX, grandchildren Andrea Becker of Sherman Oaks CA and Eric Becker and wife Marissa of Seattle WA and nephews Scott Kimball and wife Mary Gene of Woodlands TX and Noah Kimball and wife Gail of Memphis TN.
