

Carolyn Elliott Horton Edgar passed away on Friday, January 8 in Jackson at the age of 81. She was born in Ripley on July 30, 1934 to the late B. G. and Evie Horton of Ripley. She graduated from Central High School in 1951 and Belhaven in 1955. She married Allan George Edgar, Jr of Jackson, MS on June 8, 1957.
She taught elementary school in Jackson Public Schools and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. After raising her children, she worked at the Old Capitol Museum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan George Edgar, Jr. and her parents, B. G. Horton and Evie Horton. She is survived by her three children, Ashley Edgar Ferguson (Shawn) of Florence, Allan Brian Edgar (Heatherly) of Madison, and Stephen Horton Edgar of Auburn, Alabama. She also has four grandchildren – Christian Jayroe, Brooke Ferguson, Anna Edgar and Evie Edgar.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, January 11 at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 12 at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson with an additional visitation at 10:00 AM before the service. Interment will follow the service in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Arrangements are made under the direction of Parkway.
Memorials may be made to French Camp, Reformed Theological Seminary and Magnolia Speech School.
