Clarence "Clay" Steen of Mendenhall, MS was born on December 31, 1968 to Jerome and Patricia Steen. Clay grew up in Jackson, MS where he attended Jackson Academy High School. Upon graduating from JA, he briefly attended the University of Mississippi and then became a Mississippi State Bulldog, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. After graduation from Mississippi State, he became an agricultural pilot, where he was employed by Thrash Aviation. During this employment, Clay was involved in a car accident that left him paralyzed. For 20 years Clay exhibited more perseverance, courage and strength than most anyone could imagine. Clay passed away peacefully on August 2nd, 2022 after his long battle with paralysis.
Clay enjoyed sports of all kinds, hunting and especially playing golf. Clay had many friends throughout his life. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
Clay is survived by his brother, Jerome "Jay" B. Steen Jr. (Melanie); sister, Patti Taylor; nephew, Ryan Montgomery; and nieces, Megan Dove and Heather Marshall.
Funeral services for Clay will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS on August 4, 2022. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with service to follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place at Georgetown MS Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
