David was known far and wide as a great storyteller! Born in Moorhead, MS. He had his roots in the delta and it was there he began to cultivate his ability to weave a story. David had an extraordinary childhood and one of the stories he loved to tell was about his pet monkey! "Folks would come from miles around just to touch it!" While in Moorhead, David was elected most handsome, best dressed and earned his Eagle Scout Badge. Attending the World Scout Jamboree was one of the highlights of his Eagle Scout accomplishments.
After David's childhood years in Moorhead, he attended Ole Miss where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and was elected social chairman. He became a "LEGEND" at Ole Miss for his ability to book bands for parties. He was good friends with many musicians he booked, one of which was "The Howlin Wolf". In fact, "The Wolf" wrote about David in his book "Moanin' At Midnight". Also, David was known for his love of cars and motorcycles and could always be seen on campus driving the hottest sports car on the road! Later in life David's prize possession was a golden spirit limousine formerly owned by Jackie Gleason.
After graduation from Ole Miss David had the opportunity to backpack through Europe with a fold singing friend. His friend would play and sing and David would "Pass the Hat"! When David returned from Europe he settled in Jackson, MS. Where he and his wife Kaffie raised their family.
Over the years David's career spanned from banking, to education book sales, to selling polyester pants out of the trunk of his car!! But when he was introduced to direct sales he found his niche. He was extremely successful with several direct selling companies and was consistently a top producer. David became a mentor to many and a leader to all. He was an exceptional speaker and became well known for his "Hervey Laws".
After David's first wife passed away he remarried and he and Jill had great times together traveling and generally enjoying life before he became ill. He always said "I have the best life, the best family and the best career"!
David was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie David Hervey, Sr. and Sara Jackson Hervey, his sister Dixie Hervey Duddleston and his first wife Kaffie Mallette Hervey. He is survived by his wife Jill Hervey, his daughter Dawn D'Onofrio (John), his son Les Hervey (Amy) and his stepson Cameron Smith. Also by his grandchildren, Isabel and Jackson D'Onofrio and Abby, Kate and Connor Hervey.
