Diane B. Chaffins

Born Diane Bea Walker on March 18, 1934, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Ralph and Grace Walker. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Jerry Walker, and sister-in-law, Janice Walker, of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Diane grew up in her beloved hometown of Allentown and graduated from high school in 1952. Her skill in shorthand led to a clerical position with a local trucking company after graduation.

While visiting a cousin in New Hampshire, Diane met Bill, and their meeting seemed providential. They were married in August 1963 and shared 63 wonderful years together.

As Bill served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, Diane devoted herself to caring for their home and family through many military moves. They lived in Germany, California, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania before settling in Brandon, Mississippi, after Bill retired from the military in 1970. There, they made their home in the Mill Creek subdivision and raised their family.

Diane later worked as a secretary for the Jackson Public School System and at the Mississippi College School of Law Library. In retirement, she found her greatest joy in caring for her grandchildren, offering them love, encouragement, and steady guidance. She was deeply loved by all who knew her.

Diane and Bill were faithful members of Crossgates Church, where they served for many years. Their love for the Lord Jesus Christ was a lasting legacy they passed on to their children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" J. Chaffins; her children, Leslie Zouboukos (Constantine), Julie Chaffins, and Mark Chaffins; her grandchildren, Kristina Zouboukos, Julia Zouboukos, Pete Zouboukos, Elena Zouboukos, and Benjamin Chaffins; her niece, Diane Kichline (Larry), and her nephew, Scott Walker (Haidee), both of Allentown, Pennsylvania; and her cousin, Emmy Bence of Mount Union, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor David Jett will officiate.
