Dr. Douglas P. Buchanan

Douglas Prescott Buchanan was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 14, 2012, at Baptist Hospital. Dr. Buchanan was born to Marion Crain Buchanan and Martha Prescott Buchanan on December 8, 1952, in Billings, Montana. He was a Christian and a long time member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and was very involved in evangelism. He served our country for nineteen years as a pilot in the Mississippi Air National Guard and was honorably discharged as a Major. Dr. Buchanan attended Mississippi State University and was graduated from the University of New Orleans and The University of Mississippi School of Dentistry. He tenderly and skillfully cared for his dental patients for the past 27 years and especially enjoyed spending time in God’s great outdoors with his family.

Dr. Buchanan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vickie Templeton Buchanan; son, Scott Sheldon Buchanan; daughter, Shellye Buchanan Druey, her husband Hunter; daughter, Anna Grace Buchanan; sister, Martha Buchanan Stennis; brother, John Philip Buchanan; sister, Marion Buchanan Culver; and grandson, Reeves Buchanan Druey.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, at Parkway Memorial Cemetery on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, Mississippi, and at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Brandon, Mississippi, with funeral at 10:00 am.

Memorials may be made to Lakeside Presbyterian Church or French Camp Academy.
