Edith Green Hamilton

Edith Green Hamilton died Saturday, March 23, 2018 at her home in Jackson, MS. She was born May 28 1912, in Richton, MS to Ola Guyse Green and Fletcher Taylor Green. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson Thursday March 29, 2018 at 11:00am preceded by visitation at 10:00am with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Hamilton was a member of Galloway Memorial Methodist Church before joining the First Presbyterian Church in her later years. She had many talents which she used during her lifetime. Her musical ability to play the violin contributed to the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra where she performed for numerous years, she also played piano and sang for church activities and entertaining friends and family. Her love of flowers and gardens was evident in the programs she presented to garden clubs in Mississippi. Mrs. Hamilton favored natural foliage and elements to use in decorating. Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lowell Doyne Hamilton, a sister, Louise Green Woodruff and a niece Mary Woodruff Rex of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Hamilton Williams of Greenwood, MS and Madison, MS; grandson, Travis Hamilton Williams (Jennifer Price Williams); and three great-grandsons, Travis Hamilton Williams, Jr., Price Montgomery Williams, and John Taylor Williams, all of Tyler Texas. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express gratitude to Irene Venson, Pat Greenfield, Eva Phillips, La Joyce Berry, and Jackie Jones for their care and kindness.
