Edna Houston Brown
July 16, 1927 – July 10, 2019
On July 10, 2019 our beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to meet Jesus. Edna Houston Brown, 91, was born on July 16, 1927 and she passed away in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loved ones.
Edna graduated from University High School in Oxford, MS. She married the love of her life in August 1945 before her love was leaving for the Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy they made their home in Grenada, MS and started their family.
Over Edna’s life she was actively involved in her church and the choir. She enjoyed reading, needle work, puzzles and making a loving home for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents David and Mamie Houston, and her sister Lavinia Jackson of Oxford, MS. She is survived by her husband, Jim, of 74 years and daughter, Judy, and son-in-law, Walter DeLoach of Madison, and sister, Doris Brown. Edna had 3 grandsons who she adored Trey (Lori), Rob (Kim), and Scott (Caroline) DeLoach. She loved all of her great-grandchildren Heath and Perry DeLoach, Peyton and William Martin, Bryce and Ansley DeLoach, and Houston DeLoach.
Visitation is at First Baptist Madison at 1:00 and funeral following at 2:00 on Friday July 12, 2019.
