Elizabeth Smith Henson

A native of Lineville, AL, Liz was born on November 2, 1927. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she received her bachelor’s degree from Huntingdon College. She married the love of her life, Aubrey, and relocated to Jackson, MS where they raised their two sons, Gene and John. Liz loved her family and friends and always put others before herself. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed working as the office manager of her son John’s dental practice until this past summer. Always positive and quick-witted, Liz found great joy in cooking Sunday lunch for her family and spending time with loved ones.

Liz is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Eugene Henson, Sr., her parents, John William and Velma Reeves Smith, and her brother, James Lewis Smith. She is survived by her two sons, Gene Henson (Ann) of Germantown, TN, and John Henson (Marie) of Jackson, MS; granddaughters, Staci Tyler (Brent) of Ridgeland, MS, and Stephanie Henson of New York, NY; and great-grandson, Henson Tyler. She is also survived by her sister, Eva Bryan (Jack) of Hutchinson Island, FL, and brothers, George Smith (Wanda) of Lineville, AL, and Tom Smith (Carolyn) of Oxford, AL.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville, AL, with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Lineville City Cemetery.
