Elizabeth Volene McCollum

Mrs. Elizabeth V. McCollum, "Mama Beth" passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 9, 2014 with her family by her side. Visitation and funeral service will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 10:00 and 11:00 respectively.

Mrs. McCollum, age 82, was born in Pearl, MS to parents Floyd and Thelma Shearer. Elizabeth graduated Valedictorian at Pearl High School then went on to Ole Miss to become an accountant.

She met and married the love of her life, Robert E McCollum in 1950. Together they opened Village Cleaners in 1967, which is still in operation today. Elizabeth enjoyed watching and rooting for her Ole Miss Rebels, fishing, cross-stitching and was an avid reader.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Floyd Shearer, brother Floyd Shearer and grandson, Christian Baggett. She is survived by Robert E McCollum, her husband of 64 years, one sister Dolly Gray of Pearl, daughter Cissy Baggett (Bill) of Hattiesburg and 2 sons Robby McCollum (Yesmine) of Madison and Jamie McCollum (Jone) of Madison. She has 6 grandchildren Rob McCollum (Christen), Brooke Walker, Eran Baggett, Jace McCollum, Katy Bailey (Andy) and Merritt McCollum. She also has 5 great grandchildren.
