
Elsie Pitts Defore, 95, a homemaker, died in her home on Monday, May 18, 2015. Parkway Funeral Home (Wright & Ferguson) will be in charge of arrangements with visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20th at Parkway Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway. A graveside ceremony will follow at 2 p.m. at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Elsie was born on December 24, 1919 in Crystal Springs, MS. In addition to lovingly caring for her family, she enjoyed bridge and gardening. She was a member of the Las Cameradas and Mecca Bridge Clubs, Pierian Literary Club and garden clubs. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader.
She was a longtime member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, where she worked with children. She served as a volunteer, with her husband, for 31 years at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Defore; son, Wilson Defore, Jr.; mother and father, Bud H. Pitts; and her grandson, Andrew Defore.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Defore; daughter-in-law, Carol Defore; and grandson, Matthew Defore.
The family wants to express their heart-felt appreciation for the outstanding loving care from her “dream team” of sitters of many years: Brenda Wells, Johnnie Morris, Thyjuana Brown, Nella Hall, Teresa Dixon, and Ethel Lewis.
