Teena Green Noland, 91, passed away peacefully June 9, 2018. Her life was defined by her love for her family, home, and St. James Episcopal Church. She is survived by her son, Duncan Cameron Green Jr.; her brother, Mickey Lewis Williams; nephews, Clayton Lewis Williams, Edward Summers Lewis IV, and Williams (Bill) Griffin Lewis.
She was confirmed and a communicant of St. Andrews Episcopal Church for several years and was very active in the church before she and her husband D.C. Green transferred to St. James Episcopal Church. She served on the Alter Guild and became director, worked with Sunday school, E.Y.C., and participated in many activities as a young mother and later as an involved member of the congregation.
Teena enjoyed spending her time decorating her home, reading about a broad range of topics, collecting antiques, listening to music (she played the organ), and creating her home landscape. She really enjoyed the game of bridge with so many wonderful friends and was a member of Las Camaradas Bridge Luncheon Club and several other bridge clubs. Teena was also a member of the Holiday Dance Club, Calliope Club, and the Southern Luncheon Club. She traveled the world with her late husband, Andrew John Noland and then after his death with her son.
Early in her life, she was Valedictorian of Lumberton Mississippi High School and was a graduate of Bowling Green Business University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In the early 50’s, she moved from Jackson to pursue a career with Southeastern Drilling Company in Dallas, Texas where she was secretary to Bill Clements who later became Governor of Texas. She returned to Jackson to become Mrs. Duncan C. Green and after his death later married Andrew John Noland from Baton Rouge, LA.
In early years, Teena volunteered for the Red Cross, participated in many activities for Duling Elementary School, served as President of the P.T.A., and also enjoyed working with the Children’s Theatre. She was always thankful for so many wonderful, thoughtful, and kind friends.
Visitation for Teena Green Noland will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at St. James Episcopal Church, followed by a memorial service beginning at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church.
