Evelyn was born on September 24, 1932, in Gonzales, LA to Ed and Virginia Braud.
She attended St. Mary’s Dominican College in New Orleans, receiving a degree in home economics, then obtained several teaching degrees throughout her career. Evelyn dedicated her professional life to teaching 1st grade at Rolling Fork Elementary in Rolling Fork, MS. She was a wonderful lady as well as a teacher. She is remembered as a wonderful teacher whose steady presence and care left a lasting mark on many.
Her warmth was felt in the everyday gifts she shared—her involvement in church, her love of cooking and gardening, and the simple joy she brought to those around her. It was often said that she made the best seafood gumbo and cinnamon rolls ever made.
Family was the center of her life. She is survived by her brother, Nolan Braud; her daughters, Brenda (Jack) Smithers and Jeannine Logan; her sons, Daniel (Christy) Logan and Jim (Gay) Logan; her grandchildren, Arrie (Josh) Stevens, Jackie (Mike) Hardin, Holly Logan (Kelly Yonko), Heidi (Dagan) Nations, John Logan (Emelia Reed), Jamie (Nick) Benner, Jacob Logan; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.D. Logan, Jr.; her brothers, Wilbert and Ed Braud; and her sisters, Doris LeBlanc, Viola Philippe, and Shirley LeBlanc.
Evelyn will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was such a dear lady and a long time member of Our Mother of Mercy in Anguilla until she moved to Madison to be closer to her children and their families. There she was a long time member of St. Francis of Assisi and the Madison Lions Club.
Visitation will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4000 W Tidewater Ln, Madison, MS 39110, on November 2, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
