

Born March 25, 1920 to Forest M. Bowen and Albert G. Bowen of Tupelo, MS. She attended the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.
Mrs. Davis had a diverse career, which included working at the Pentagon and the MS Secretary of State’s office. She also spent many years teaching in Tupelo, Oxford, and Jackson. In 1949 she married Barnett Lyerly Davis Jr. of Jackson, MS.
She was a member of the Literary Club, the Hinds County Federation of Women’s Club and served on the Board of the Directors for the Bond Home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ridgeland.
Preceded in death by her husband, Barnett L. Davis Jr., she is survived by her son, Barnett Lyerly Davis III (Betsy) of Madison; two grandchildren Casey Lawson (Jarrod) of Atlanta and Barnett L. Davis IV (Emily) of Raymond, as well as four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home Wednesday, October 19 from 5:00-7:00pm and Thursday, October 20 at 10:00am with funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Burial will take place at Lakewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Home Place, formerly The Bond Home, French Camp Academy, or First United Methodist Church of Ridgeland.
